Neritic Dragonby `alexds1

The Neritic Dragon is a smaller dragon about the size of a cormorant. As indicated in its name, it spends most of its time by the ocean and favors warmer climates. Its vivid blue upper coloration makes it difficult to spot from above, and its white belly likewise shields it from predators from below. This species is unique because it can both fly and swim, utilizing specific parts of its anatomy:
- Wings can be used for both flying and swimming
- Head and back crest are useful stabilizers in an air/water stream
- Broad tail useful for stabilizing in the air (somewhat a hinderance in the water)
- Fringes on fingers and toes collapse when the foot is pushed forwards, and extend when the foot is pressed backwards, suitable for diving and swimming
- Small sharp teeth and claws, as well as rasping surfaces on the palms are ideal for grasping fish
- Good eyesight for spotting prey from above
- Gills for underwater breathing (they must keep their mouths open to breathe above surface)

In addition to being beautiful animals, they are highly valued for their loyal companionship on the seas and ability to spot shoals of fish from the air.

Wanted to color something blue for once, and had a good time doing it

Its a concept for another project I'm thinking about workin on... I'm probably going to make a print of this guy too, since I spent a while on it.
