2. What can I commission?
I'll do just about anything, with the exception of copyrighted characters. If you want anything non pg-rated you'll have to give me some sort of proof that you're not, like, 12.
3. What type of payment will you accept?
I can accept paypal now! But I will also accept money order if you are more comfortable with a mail transaction. I'll need full payment before starting, though.
4. How long is this going to take? D:
Dunno? As long as it needs to in order to look nice? Though sketch/ portrait/ chibi commishes will be done within a day or two of payment.
5. How much control do I have over the art?
I'll show you the preliminary sketch for larger commissions, but if you'd like more say on the colors and such please let me know- otherwise I'll just do what looks good to me.
6. Do I get the original art?
How about this: anything over 30 bucks and I'll mail all of it to you free of charge, otherwise you'll have to pay for it.
7. Why do colors cost a lot?
Because they seriously take me forever! But I promise to do a good job

I was planning to update sooner but the pic I'm working on right now is pretty huge and keeps making my computer crash. Its very frustrating. But not the end of the world...

So in the meantime, here's a review of my favorite genre of sci-fi, the end-of-the-world/ nuclear holocaust novel (ratings out of 5).

Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank- 5
One of my favorites for sure. Hydrogen bombs from Russia destroy or contaminate most of the US, and one community in Florida tries to survive the aftermath. Written during the Cold War, so the general mood of the book feels very authentic. The last page is a hoot.  

A Canticle for Liebowitz by Walter Miller- 4.5
Actually read this a while ago, I'm a bit foggy about the details but remember that I liked it a lot. Has a strong religious bent to it, and progresses through time rapidly over the course of the book. Sort of about a random guy named Liebowitz who is canonized after his body is found years after a nuclear war. This is a series but I've only read the first one.

Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut- 5
Vonnegut is the shit, and Cat's Cradle is my personal favorite of all of his books. Cause of catastrophe is people and Ice-9, the solution is Bokonon.

The Day After- 5
Oops, a movie. But it rocks. Some parts are a little scientifically innaccurate though (its forgiveable though, it was made a while ago). Not to be confused with The Day After Tomorrow, a different apocalyptic movie.

Earth Abides by George R Stewart- 4.5
The first end of the world novel I ever read, in 9th grade. Loved it at first, since then I've reread it and was less thrilled when I compared it to some other novels (gets a bit boring at times). But very detailed on the methods of survival and forming communities, though some major details (like what happens to all the corpses) aren't addressed very well.

Hyperion/ Endymion by Dan Simmons- 3
Simmons also has an end of the world short story, but its not that great. Hyperion series and sequels are more of a pure science fiction catastrophe, and not quite the "end," but possibly worth reading (but not rereading).

I am Legend by Richard Matheson- 4.5
Matheson is fucking awesome, one of the best horror writers in my opinion. I am Legend is his best known work, about the last living man on earth which has been infected by vampires. Humorous and scary and bitter and definitely worth reading.

A Gift Upon the Shore by M.K. Wren- 4
Pretty good, actually, and the only one of these sorts of novels that I've read that was written by a woman. As such it addresses women issues more than I personally care for, but does a good job of describing how a recovering society might prepare for future ones.

On the Beach by Nevil Shute- 3.5
Very very very depressing. Not scientifically accurate, either, since the guy evidently didn't know about trade winds, but pretty much its about Mutual Assured Destruction for everyone on earth. Again, a real downer.

Lucifer's Hammer by Larry Niven- 1
The 1 acknowledges that Niven gets books published, but I seriously hated this book. About a meteor, and it sucks ass. I couldn't finish it as hard as I tried, and I paid 3 bucks for it

The Postman by David Brin- 4
In terms of writing very nice, with an uplifting message. Not entirely about nuclear effects, though, it has some biological warfare and a cult of people called Holnists who are the main protagonists. I like its depiction of societies after the end.

The Stand by Stephen King- 3.5
End of the world caused by a biological agent. Love the first half, the second part sort of lost its charm the 3rd or 4th time I read it. In terms of all Stephen King its definitely at the top. And it has RF in it, one of his better recurring characters. The best parts of The Stand make you feel scared and alone.


Most of these books I found myself, though I'm aware that theres a whole lot of them out there. Still trying to get my hands on Ridley Walker and The Last Ship. Also, tried reading the Left Behind series but I'm not religious enough to be interested, has anyone has read them and liked/disliked them? Thats enough for now. New art up late in the week.

Also I get a box of crayons XD XD I wasn't even sure I would place, there were so many great entries. Congrats to the other winners as well!!

Also I just had my 2 year DA anniversary on Wednesday, and Xmas is in a few days, so as a gift to myself it works out perfectly

Thanks so much for your support over this emo period of my life, I'm better now. I may be single and unable draw rightwards-pointed faces for shit, but I have a lot to be grateful for:

2) being healthy (and hotter than ever thanks to exercise)

My Bio GRE is rapidly approaching. For those not in the know this is the Graduate Record Exam, which is a major factor in graduate programs deciding whether you deserve the rest of your life or not. I've been studying my stupid face off for the last 6 weeks and I'm still not entirely prepared; I still have about 12 hours of practice tests to get through before Saturday morning. Also, learning all of fucking hell goddamn fucking cell metabolism.

On the plus side, after that there is only writing personal statements and then I'm done with apps. And best of all, I have a job now! I'm a tutor! and the tutoring center place is only about 30 minutes by bike, and a good workout with the wind blowing in my face the whole way. Finally some moneys I don't have to beat the crap out of little kids to get.

Thats all for now, no new art until this testiness is over, but I have a great comic concept in my head that I'm dying to get on paper to show all yalls.
